Today was the first event of the 2 week tournament here in Pendleton. Well it was a quick day for me; about the 7th hand of the tournament I am on the button with a raise and a call in front of me. I have pocket KK and decide instead of reraising, I want to see a flop to make sure that an Ace doesn't hit the board and I do not pot commit myself and then have to lay my big pair down, so I just call. The flop comes down 963 rainbow (all different suites) Bonnie (last name I am not sure of) but she is one of the big pros here fires out 300 into a pot of 575 so there is already 875 in the pot and we only have 2000 in starting chips so now I want to take it down now and put all the pressure on her. So I move all-in, she instantly calls me now I am like oh damn she must have pocket AA. But to my surprise and pleasure she turns over 9/10 offsuit so she only has a pair of 9s; the happiness was short lived as she hit the 5 outer on the turn with another 9. so I had to hit one of the remaining 2 Kings in the deck. It sucks going from a 80% favorite on the flop to a 4% chance of winning after 4th street.
So this was a quick event for me today and I will be playing again tomorrow at noon and will update with results tomorrow night.
A good thing is they had over 500 players today so they are having a great turn out for the middle of the week. This weekend should be huge fields.
Until tomorrow...
