Rule #27 is one that will make the poker room a little quieter.

Any player who directs any profane and/or abusive language at another player, dealer or tournament staff member or who makes any profane and/or abusive comments about another player, dealer or tournament staff member will be penalized in accordance with Rules No. 22 and/or 46. In particular, the use of the so-called "f-bomb" and "c-bomb" as well as derivatives of those and similarly offensive terms, will subject the offending player to penalties if they are directed at or refer to another player, dealer, staff member, patron or official of Harrah's or the WSOP. In Harrah’s sole and absolute discretion, it may impose at any time a zero-tolerance policy for profane language whether directed at another person or not.

Carlos Mortenson's unique chip stacking at the Mirage Poker Showdown

If you ever get a chance to play or sit at the rail when Carlos is playing, take a look at his chip stack. If he is doing well and has a lot of chips you might have the chance to see something with him that you will not see with any other pros.

Harrah's Giving Players Incentive to Fight Cancer

VIP Lounge Will Be Opened for Players who Donate to the NVCI
Harrah’s is teaming up with the Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI) during the World Series of Poker to both raise money for the institute and to also give players a place to lounge.

Harrah’s is providing a VIP lounge at the Rio for players who donate $1,000 or more to the NVCI. The lounge will be available for the entire WSOP. It will be opened 24 hours, will feature food and beverages, plasma-screen TVs, a pool table and more. Players who donate will also be given special parking privileges.

“The WSOP is committed to helping Nevada Cancer Institute continue its important and ground-breaking work,” said Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the WSOP. “The new VIP lounge is one way to enlist the support of the poker community. It’s good for our players and good for NVCI.”

NVCI Institute is a non-profit organization committed to reducing the development of cancer.

The WSOP starts June 1.

18 days and counting (WSOP)

There is only 18 more days until the 2007 World Series of Poker. This year is going to be a very exciting year for the WSOP. There is going to be a total of 55 events this year beginning on June 1st. ESPN will be filming all events and determining what events they are going to air and when; what is confirmed is that event #1 will be aired before the beginning of the Main Event this year.

The most exciting thing this year is that the starting chips for all events will be doubled and the rounds will be increased. Meaning more chips and more time to play. This is great for good players and allows them to be selective in the hands they play and time to trap the not so good players. They have made these modifications with the help of popular pros such as Barry Greenstein and Howard Lederer.

They have also adjusted the way the prize pool will be distributed so that it isnt quite so top heavy so that if you barely make it into the money places you will still get nearly double what your entry fee was.

a little over 2 weeks left and look forward to reporting the inside action at the Rio Casino Resort.

PokerNews.com has secured the rights to be the official provider of live updates during the 2007 World Series of Poker.

The deal was struck between PokerNews and Bluff Media who paid big bucks to become the “Official Digital Media Partner” for the WSOP, to allow PokerNews to provide live updates on PokerNews.com, BluffMagazine.com and more importantly the official site for the WSOP, WorldSeriesofPoker.com.
