First place in free roll

Last night at about 7pm I was deciding what tournament to play online. The WSOP is coming up soon and I was playing on fulltilt they were popping up these free rolls for 630 players. These are great as there is no cost to play in these tournaments, problem is it only has a prize if you win the tournament. Since I didnt have much else to do I decided to play. At about 11:30PM we were down to the final table and I was about average in chips comparable to the table. The player directly to my left was the chip leader with over 400K in chips and the rest of us around 150K; when this hand came up:

I was in the big blind with 78hearts the chip leader to my left made it 20000 to go with the blinds at 5K/10K respectively with a 1K ante. so there is already 24K in the pot prior to his raise. there is one caller, small blind folds and it is only 10K more for me to call with 64K in the pot.

I make the call the flop comes 569 with 2 hearts. I check with the nut straight the raiser bets out 50K and the caller folds. I go into the tank for a little while to make him think that I am determining if I should call or not, and then make the call. the turn comes an Ace since I had him on A clubs with a big card this is the money card. I check and he checks. which makes it interesting as if he has an ace why would he check the turn. and give me a free card. Now I think he might have KK or QQ the river comes a Q spades. I bet out a small bet of 30K trying to intice a call; and to my luck he instantly moves all in. Now I know he has AQ and I call. The pot was 404K and I turn over the nut straight and he flips over AQ. The small raise preflop from UTG was probably not a very good move as if he would have made a larger raise I would have never seen the flop. Now I am the large stack and swaped places with me.

2 hands later I am on the button and a guy in middle position raises to 50K about half his stack and gets a caller, I look down and have AA and move all in. and then to my surprise the Small blind calls ( he is the guy that lost the pot against me just 2 hands ago) He must think I am trying to be a bully with all the chips. The raiser calls and the caller folds. So 3 of us to the flop with both of them all in. I show AA the small blind shows A4 and the raiser shows 77. Flop comes 59K turn K and river A so I knock out 2 players in that hand and increase my chips to over 600K. I am not in any hands for the next 5 and 3 players are knocked out and one of the 4 that is left is crippled.

Next hand the small stack moves all in and I am in the big blind and it is only 8K more for me to call with J9offsuit. He turns over 88 so it is a lot better then I thought. the flop comes 78Q so he hits his set but I have a gut shot straight draw. turn is a Ace so no help but then on the river comes the 10 and I knock out another player. The next hand was the last hand. I have so many chips that neither of the remaining players can really hurt me if I play smart. I am the first to act with blinds 10K/20K and they each have a little over a 100K I have 99 and move all in to put the pressure on them. and wow they both move all in. so this could be it. the first guy turns over A4 and the other guy turns over QQ. so I am a 4 to 1 dog against the QQ but ahead of the A4. the flop comes A78 not good now I am behind both players. but then on the turn 9. YES... and with a 5 on the river I win the tournament.

This tournament qualifies me to play in a tournament on Saturday that the top 9 get an entry into a free roll for the main event of the World Series of Poker. Not bad for a free tournament. Cya next time at the tables.
